RADF GRANT BRINGS CAMERATA – QUEENSLAND CHAMBER ORCHESTRA TO LONGREACH
Qantas Founders Museum has been awarded $2,900 from the Longreach Regional Council Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) for the performance fee of the Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra’s 2018 Regional Tour to Longreach in June 2018.
Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, which is based in Brisbane, has amassed a reputation for innovation and adventurous programming and firmly established itself as a chamber orchestra of national significance with an outstanding track record of artistic achievement since its founding in 1987. In 2017, 36,000 audience members across the state heard the orchestra in live performances with a further 500,000 across the country in broadcasts on TV and radio.
The Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra’s Regional Tour of Longreach on 12 and 13 June 2018 will include a free evening concert at Qantas Founders Museum on 12 June and a number of community engagement activities on 12 and 13 June including a performance at Longreach State High School, a specially designed performance for residents at the Pioneers Aged Care Home and for the first time, Camerata have written a special performance for young children and will perform this at the Longreach Kindergarten.
As part of their visit, Camerata will be rehearsing with the Longreach Town Band, Caterpillar Choir and instrumental students from local schools to perform together at the evening concert at Qantas Founders Museum on 12 June 2018. The concert and community performances will be free for the community to enjoy.
Qantas Founders Museum Chief Executive Officer Tony Martin said the museum was thrilled to receive this funding and provide a unique cultural experience for the Longreach community.

The Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra performance will start at 7.30pm on Tuesday 12 June 2018 with doors opening at 7pm and a cash bar available.
