From 2 September 2019 – 31 March 2020, Qantas Founders Museum aircraft tours will change due to construction work for the Museum’s Airpark Roof Project.
Major construction work of Qantas Founders Museum’s Airpark Roof Project is set to commence on 2 September 2019 which will restrict access to the Museum’s Boeing 747 and Boeing 707 and affect the Museum’s current aircraft tours including the Jet Tour, 747 Wing Walk Tour and Platinum Package.
From 2 September 2019, Qantas Founders Museum will offer a one hour Captain’s Tour which will include a guided tour of the perimeter of Airpark site filled with interesting information about the Museum’s Airpark Roof Project, Boeing 747, 707 and Super Constellation followed by a video display of behind the scenes footage of the Boeing 747 narrated by a retired Qantas Boeing 747 Captain and the Boeing 707 presented by Museum Curator Tom Harwood. Please ensure you wear a hat and sun cream for this tour as the first 30-40 minutes are outside in the sun. This tour may be altered in the event of rain. Information about the new guided aircraft tours in April 2020 will be made available in early 2020.
The Museum will also be offering two guided tours daily of the 1922 National Heritage Listed Qantas Hangar, where guests will learn about the history of Australia’s oldest civil aviation building and the significant artefacts within it.
